Toshiba Laptops FAQ:
Question: What does the “satillite” in Toshiba laptops mean?
Does it mean that it gets internet connections from satillites or what?
Answer: The “Satellite” name is simply a model brand name and therefore the laptops bear no technical association to terminologies used in “satellite phone/satphone” or any modes of data transfer via orbital satellites.
Question: Do the new Toshiba laptops come with a webcam built in?
Answer: Yes, the latest ones do.
Question: Where can I download a new free camera software for toshiba vista laptop?
My camera assistant software for toshiba laptop doesn’t function any more. When I open the software, the light for camera doesn’t go on, and the screen shows “no preview”. Seems like part of the software was missing. Could anyone please give me a website or link where I can download a new free software? Mine is new home premium vista.
Answer: If you think the part of the software is missing, then you will need to go to the toshiba site and download a fresh installation package probably they will have an updated version. But what I think is that the camera is bad and you might need a replacement.
Question: How do you increase the volume on a Toshiba laptop?
Not talking Windows audio settings, the volume on the laptop itself. I was directed to a function control but that was a simply mute/unmute control. I have a Toshiba Satellite L40 14N.
Answer: At the top near the bottom of the screen there’s 2 buttons for volume up and down.
Question: How do I fix a problem with my Toshiba laptop which is not recognizing USB hardware?
I have a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5921 laptop that runs Vista and is less than a year old. It just started giving the following message…”USB Device not Recognized”. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned. As a result my mouse will not work. However. a thumb drive will work.
Answer: You can send it back to Toshiba, as it is under the one year warranty, and this sounds like a hardware issue.
Question: What’s better toshiba laptops or dell laptops?
My brother and sister both have dell lapotps and when I wanted to get a laptop the prices got higher so I don’t know if I should get a toshiba or a dell. Some people say toshiba is the best and some say dell is.
Answer: I would recommend toshiba window 7 intelcore2 duo. Mine is toshiba portege m900 and its a very good laptop.
Question: How can I restore my Toshiba laptop to its factory setting?
I need to restore my Laptop to its factory setting. Its a Toshiba Mod. # PSAA5U-02100R
Answer: Your best option is a restore disc. It’s the disc that came with the computer. This will completely return the laptop it to it’s original settings.
Barring that, get any windows disc. When you start your computer keep hitting the F keys. Depending on your laptop one of the F keys will open a boot menu. Mine is F8. Tell your computer to boot from disc. This will allow you to reinstall windows. And format your hard drive.
Question: Are Toshiba Laptops any good?
Looking for a laptop and I’ve noticed the Toshiba laptops are in my price range but the question is are they reliable?
Answer: I have the Windows 7 Satellite A500 (I think that’s what it is! I keep forgetting the letters but not the numbers)…it’s very good and they are seriously reliable, Any errors I’ve had on mine are of my own making, and thankfully I’ve fixed them. Mine cost close to almost a £900…but it was worth it, and it comes with a hard disk recovery tool which I’ve only had to use once (again – because I screwed up lol). I do hear conflicting reports about their customer service though – typical after I’ve got it – and I think that’s the only down side to the Toshiba industry.
