Asus UX30 – Laptop Review

Asus is proud to present its sleek line of ultra-thin notebooks that are big on features and functions. Thus, it came up with the Asus UX30, one of the latest models introduced by Asus. The UX30 is also known as the mother of mini netbooks owing to the innovation of the EEE PC series.

There are two models in the UX series laptops: the UX50V and the UX30. The latter is smaller with a thickness of only 0.9 inches, easily making it one of the thinnest notebooks in the market. It is practical for travel and is very useful to the businessman, the normal computer user and the writer. And the UX30 is also very light, commensurate to its size. One can carry it and not be expected to be carrying a laptop.

The Asus UX30 uses Intel’s Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) processors. This is perhaps the reason behind how the UX30 is nearly wafer-thin and comes loaded with more than acceptable features. The CULV processors are intended to consume low energy as much as possible, thus emitting less heat. As the CULV processors need little energy, the slim design of the Asus UX30 was made possible. Earlier processors need space to allow heat and air to circulate without wreaking damage to the internal components.

Performance-wise, the Asus UX30 has either the Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor SU9400 or the Core™ Solo Processor SU3500. Both of these processors run on 1.4 GHz. Any of these processors is supported by up to 4 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM). This kind of power surpasses the need to enable and address the Asus UX30 to perform multiple functions without hanging up or lagging.

The screen of Asus’ latest offering has an acceptable 1366×768 resolution integrated within a 13-inch liquid crystal display screen, which can facilitate faster and better multi-tasking. With a large resolution, a user can simply open a document window while putting it alongside a window of another document for reference. A user also has a choice to integrate a media player window.

Specifications:

CPU:

  • Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor SU9400: 1.4 GHz
  • Intel® Core™ Solo Processor SU3500: 1.4 GHz

RAM: DDR2 800 MHz SDRAM, 1 x SODIMM socket for expansion up to 4GB SDRAM

Screen size: 13.3″ WXGA/ Resolution 1366×768, Color-Shine (Glare-type)

Operating system:

  • Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
  • Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic

Battery life: Polymer 3 cells: 3250 mAh

Graphics: Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD

Pros:

The thinness and lightness of the Asus UX30 are the key advantages of the Asus UX30. And the clear resolution of the LCD screen enables proficient multi-tasking, which is necessary in the busy world. This is important for writers and editors who seek to finish editing or writing documents in a tight time frame.

Cons:

However, gamers can expect to be disappointed with the Asus UX30 as its graphics card is not designed for the latest hard-core gaming. Yet, these gamers can always insist to play older games that consume less power and graphic resolution.

Conclusion:

The Asus UX30 is designed basically to answer the simple needs of the businessman or the average computer user, who are both looking for a reliable machine to perform average and business processes with.

The only drawback is the lack of power to process multimedia applications and 3D-based games. However, it is still loaded on features and one cannot regret the price he or she will pay for the Asus UX30, depending on the applications that one needs or desires.

Asus UX30 laptop is smallest in Assus UX series and if you are looking for other reviews of this series then you must visit asus UX laptops review for detailed reviews.

I just bought an asus g72 laptop from bestbuy. I would like to reinstall windows 7 on it but I only have a recovery disk. I try to partion the entire thing to a single harddrive and I just end up with the same thing as before. Nothing changed.

Answer: Unknown to many Windows 7 users, the hidden partition is always automatically created by setup during installation. The partition holds Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). The partition holds the bootable files that allow Windows 7 to boot properly in the event of it being corrupted. The hidden partition is similar to the recovery partition made on most OEM computers. There are two types of partitions created – the one by the standard Windows 7 OS is 200MB while the one by the RTM version is only 100MB

Lenovo’s Ideapad Y530 (40512AU) – Laptop Review

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 is a popular choice for a laptop to call your own or give it to a loved one as it is not very expensive. Lenovo asserts that the Y530 is a very good product and will not put a hole through your wallet. We shall see as we will be discussing the Y530 features and capabilities.

We will also determine the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530’s advantages and disadvantages. Plus, we will be giving our opinions on why the IdeaPad Y530 is a popular purchase.

Specifications:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo processor P7350 (2GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

Mempry: 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 x 1GB, supports up to 4GB)

Hard Drive: 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

Display: 15.4″ WXGA Glossy Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)

Optical Drive: Slot-loading dual-layer DVD±RW drive

Videp Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9300M with 256MB VRAM

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium

Wireless: 802.11g/n

Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.0+EDR

Battery: 6-cell

With this package, you can get a multi-media laptop with several features: surround speakers with subwoofer, a frameless display, and touch-sensitive media controls.

The Y50 has an all-black shell. As one closely views the surface, it has a pattern that is visually appealing as well as providing a better grip. Consistency is apparent in its overall design.

Other people might be bothered by the orange-colored media buttons that contrast with the black surface. But we think that the orange buttons break the monotony of the all-black look. The Y530 is a bit thicker than other laptops being sold, but surprisingly, it is not heavy.

We now glance at the Y530’s underside. Its bottom is accessible whenever you want to upgrade some components. Inside, one can see the processor, wireless card, the hard drive and RAM. Yet, it seems like there were no security stickers.

While the IdeaPad boasts of a frameless screen, its display area does have some problems. Image distortion is a common problem with the Y530. The colors are accurate at a fixed angle. Move it around, your screen gets distorted. Even the screen “fades out” during certain times.

Another irritating display problem is glare. Even with a low amount of light, one can see his or her own reflection. This is very distracting especially if you are trying to watch a movie with a very dark scene. You can see yourself. Aside from the inferior viewing angle and glare problems, the Y530 also has a problem with DVD playback. The 1280 x 800 resolution lacks the 16:9 aspect ratio for one to enjoy his favorite DVD movie or television episode.

The Y530 trails behind other notebooks in terms of graphics cards. The Y530’s integrated graphics card enables one to sufficiently browse the Internet or work on some documents. The integrated graphics card, however, is not at all ideal for gaming.

The IdeaPad Y530’s documentation makes the laptop sufficiently user friendly. However, the software bundle is not substantial. All one gets is the Windows operating system and the CyberLink software.

Lenovo, though, is proud of the Dolby Home Theater audio system built into the Y530. This assures the listener of quality surround sound. It boasts of four speakers, so music lovers would want to have a first crack at this gadget.

To finish this review, it seems like some features were sacrificed to lower the price of the Y530. However, if this gadget will just be used for the average computer work like documents or children’s homework, then the Lenovo IdeaPad is an excellent choice.

Lenovo Ideapad Y530 FAQ:

Question: Lenovo laptop ideapad Y530 any good for college?
I need a laptop for college with 3gb or higher and 250gb + hard drive, and it has to be able to run the data intensive AUTO CAD and CAD programs. Is a lenovo laptop good for this, are they reliable?

Answer: The lenovo y530 doesn’t have that great of a graphics card – nvidia 9300, so it won’t run autocad/cad programs well. Choose a more powerful laptop like the lenovo w700. Lenovo laptops are known for their reliability and excellent build quality.

Question: How to PC restore Lenovo y530?
How can I do a complete PC restore for the Lenovo ideapad y530? I want it to go back to factory settings.

Answer: Press the One Key Recovery button. It is the one just above the power button with the arch/arrow on it. Provided you did not reformat the drive you will be able to restore the original factory image.

Question: Dell Studio or Lenovo Ideapad?
I’m looking at buying a new computer, and I’ve mostly narrowed it down to the Dell Studio 15 or Lenovo Ideapad Y530. The Dell looks way better in my opinion, but looks aren’t everything, so has anyone had either of these computers? What do I need to know reliability-wise?

Answer: Go Lenovo. Dell makes some excellent computers (particularly their business class), but they have been known to have reliability issues. Lenovo, on the other hand, have some of the best product support, best warranties and best built products on the market. Lenovo tops the chart in reliability. I would like to point out that all laptops are subject to component failure over time. What makes the difference is how they treat you when things go wrong. Lenovo is again one of the best at that after purchase support.

Question: Taking video/pictures with Lenovo ideapad?
I got a lenovo ideapad y530 and everything is great, until I ran into this roadblock:

it has a built in camera to recognize faces (”your face is your password”), but I can’t seem to find how to take an actual picture from the laptop. It almost seems as if the answer is right in front of my nose, but I cannot find a button or icon ANYWHERE that will let me take a picture/video.

Answer: Use the EasyCapture utility. There should be an icon on the desktop, or though the Start menu.

Question: Buying a Lenovo Ideapad that I haven’t seen in person?
So I am considering buying the Lenovo Ideapad Y530 for about $660 from the Lenovo website (which has a better deal than anyone else online). The only thing is that I cannot find any store that would have one on display for me to see! It looks pretty good, but should I trust buying a laptop that I’ve never even seen? Does anyone know of a store that sells it??

Answer: If it is the true website, not a fake, it should be OK. Just make sure the specs are what you want, and that they have a return policy, just in case.

Question: Is Lenovo a good laptop brand?
I am planning to purchase the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530.

Answer: I believe that the IdeaPad Y530 is a good buy. Lenovo of course bought out the IBM line of computers. IBM is a very respectable brand of computers and I would highly recommend that over any other brand.

Question: Normal operating temp for Lenovo Ideapad laptop?
What is normal for a Y530 ideapad? Intel Centrino core 2 duo @2ghz, 4 gb ram, 320 gb hd. I lost the hard drive in my last laptop due to overheating (even though I used a chillpad) and I don’t want it to happen again. I use speedfan to monitor the temp, and it runs right around 45 celsius while just surfing the web or using MS office but as soon as I load a flash video or play a game the temp rises to 65 or higher (I shut it down at 70 to avoid losing another hard drive). Is this due to integrated graphics? The chillpad has no effect on this laptop. After 65 I can hear the secondary fan kick on really loud which scares me. I shelled out more $$$ than I planned to and got this laptop cuz I was told the thinkpad / ideapads last forever so I want to make sure that happens.

Answer: There is only one fan in there. It can operate at different levels and that is normal. For all hard drives it is a question more of when they will fail rather than if. Backup your data regularly.

Are you looking at the drive temperature? It sounds more like you are looking at the CPU core temperatures. The CPU is on the opposite side of the machine to the hard drive and will have very little heating effect on the drive.

Question: Integrated graphics card question?
Is the integrated graphics card on the Lenovo Ideapad y530 40156BU (Intel Integrated Graphics X4500) better than the integrated graphics card on the laptop I am currently using, compaq presario f572us(NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150)? I know both are bad, but which one is better. Also, how much can you set the video memory to be on the lenovo y530? On my current compaq it is 278mb. I know that in general, the lenovo y530 is much better, but I need to know about gaming on both computers.

Answer: The GMA 4500M is considerably faster than the old GeForce Go 6150. concerning the graphics memory: if you’re using Windows Vista the graphics memory will be allocated automatically depending on the size of the main memory. if the main memory is 2GB, the graphics ram can go up to 512MB (maximum can be up to 1759MB with 4GB main memory) what is sufficient for almost all games.

ASUS Netbooks Are Feature Packed

An Asus Netbook is a laptop computer that’s designed be portable and easy to use. Asus was an early leader in netbooks.

Asus started with its Asus Eee PC netbooks. These original mini-laptops took the market by storm, and the EeePC met the growing demand for small, lightweight laptops that were portable and had better battery life than standard laptops.

You can get an Asus Netbook in one of 3 screen sizes. Choosing between an 8.9″, 10.1″ or 11.6″ screen for a larger viewing area. The earliest netbooks were often criticized about their screen size. An 11.6″ screen gives much better visibility to the screen, while maintaining the easy portability and compact size netbooks are known for. You can choose a 1024 x 600 resolution WSVGA resolution screen, or an HD WXGA 1366 x 768 resolution with an LED-backlit display.

All Asus Netbooks weigh less than 3 pounds. If you’ve ever carried around a full-size laptop, that wasn’t a very expensive featherweight model, you can appreciate a laptop that weighs less than 3 pounds! You also have a variety of battery sizes, which affect battery life and weight. Models with a 3-cell battery cost less, but the 6-cell batteries increase run time dramatically, up over 10 hours.

Each Asus Netbook contains some type of Atom processor, a top processor from Intel that was made for small devices. Because of netbooks’ portability, people want to be able to use them at length on the go, and there’s not always a way to plug them in every couple of hours. The Atom CPU helps the battery last much longer, because it uses much less power than other types of processors. Intel’s popular Core 2 Duo processor uses almost 10 times more power than an Atom processor, making the Atom ideal for netbooks.

You can choose a less expensive Asus Netbook, or opt to pay a little more, by choosing different operating systems, screen sizes, disk drives and memory. Windows operating systems installed cost a little more than a Linux operating system, for instance. Windows 7 is coming out for netbooks this month. You can choose hard drives ranging from about 16 Gig to 250 Gig, both HD and SSD, with more storage commanding higher prices. Choose between 1GB and 2GB of memory–keeping in mind that more memory is always better, as it speeds operations.

You can choose from a variety of colors to suit your taste, and then enjoy using your Asus Netbook on the go, with its built-in Wi-Fi, web browsing, webcam and software like media players and picture viewers. These compact netbooks let you compute on the go without lugging around a heavy laptop or paying thousands of dollars for a light model.

Asus FAQ:

Question: How do I turn on the associated helper on my linux asus computer?
I have an Eee PC from Asus and I need to update my firefox, but it keeps saying I need to turn on my ‘associated helper’. I honestly don’t even know what that is.

Answer: Google cannot find anything associated with the eeepc and the associated helper.
As a guess I would suggest that you go to the linux website and try the first tip they suggest “opening repositories and installing software”. This should enable you to install software like updating firefox.

Question: Has anyone who purchased an Asus computer received conformation for their windows 7 free upgrade yet?
I’ve been waiting for almost 3 months and still haven’t received any confirmation for my order. Has anyone else who bought an Asus have their order validated yet?

Answer: They’re shipping. This is an upgraded (well, okay, I had to do a full install, the upgrade had problems) CM5570. If you haven’t even gotten confirmation yet, I’d fill out another form on the site and email another copy of the receipt.

Question: Where can I order drivers support for Asus P5Q PRO TURBO Motherboard?
When I purchased the motherboard it already comes with a support DVD, but it’s only for Windows XP and Vista. I want the latest drivers for Windows 7 for my motherboard. Is there a way I can order it? In Asus website there are drivers that are available for download for Windows 7, but it’s too difficult finding the right one and what version should I download.

Answer: Check out Amazon or eBay.

Question: What kinda case should I buy a for Asus M4A79XTD motherboard?
Bought a new AMD Phenom 965 (140W) and an Asus M4A79XTD motherboard. You think mid tower will do the job, or I have to buy a full tower?

Answer: A mid tower would be the best unless you are planning on making a mean machine than full tower would be necessary. I suggest something like the antec 900 or you can experiment with the new antec 600.

Question: Why did my Asus G71GX Laptop not come with a recovery disc?
I bought a Asus G71GX from Best Buy in September but I just thought of it now, it never came with a recovery disc. Does any one know why? I also had to return the first Asus lap top I bought because of hardware malfunctions but it also did not have a recovery disc.

Answer: Most computers no longer come with recovery software. Usually you can create your own recovery discs however. Most newer computers come with that as an option. Google you computer model with “create recovery discs” and I bet you will find instructions on how to go about it.

Question: Could you help me to export photos from ASUS LifeFrame to other part of my computer?
I took photos using ASUS LifeFrame but I don’t know how to export them for instance to desktop.

Answer: Go to C:\Program Files\Asus\LifeFrame2\LifeFrame and you’ll find the images in there. Your installation directory might be different, but you get the drift.

Question: Roughly how long does it take Asus to repair Laptops?
I just sent of my laptop, Ireland to the UK center, and I was just wondering does anybody have any experience with this and how long would it usually take for Asus to send my Laptop back out?

Answer: If the parts needed are available, its about 1 week the earliest and 2 weeks the most. If no parts available, it would all depend on when the parts will be available. Most, if not all, service centers do not repair parts they replace parts.

Question: Asus laptop volume function keys with windows 7 not working?
I recently reformatted my laptop with windows 7 (32 bit if it makes any difference) and all the function keys seem to work except the volume function keys. Any idea how I can fix this?

Answer: You need to install the hotkey drivers. Head over to asus.com and see if you can find them for your laptop.

Laptop Review – Dell Vostro 1320

Similar to other Dell laptops, the Dell Vostro 1320 is flexible and easily customizable. The potential buyer has several configuration options and a whole range of specifications to choose from.

The Dell Vostro 1320 may be considered bland on the style department. It will absolutely fail to stand out in a sea of black box-type laptops. It is glossy, which is the most that we can say about the design. Regardless, it shouldn’t turn off any buyer from considering its other features.

At 13.3″, the Dell Vostro 1320 has a screen that’s larger than others in its segment. Besides, Dell gave the interested buyer the choice between a regular LCD or the TrueLife version, which boasts a glossy finish.

With a weight of less than 5 pounds, this laptop is convenient to carry around. If the user’s lifestyle or work requires that the laptop be portable then this fits the bill.

SPECS AVAILABLE OPTIONS

CPU – Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9550 (2.66 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB)

RAM – Up to 8GB6 Dual Channel 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM7

Screen Size – 13.3″ Widescreen WXGA (1280 x 800) Anti-Glare Display, 13.3″ WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLifeTM

Operating System – Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate, Business, Home Premium, Ultimate with Downgrade Rights Service to Windows XP Professional, and Business with Downgrade Rights Service to Windows XP Professional, FreeDOS operating systems

Battery Life – At least 4 hours

Graphics – Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500MHD, 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS Graphic Card

Pros

The Dell Vostro 1320 offers much comfort to the user. The keyboard’s size is just enough for typing to be done easily. The keys bounce back quickly and are very responsive. The touchpad is also a delight to use because it’s sensitive and has high precision.

What we like most about this laptop is that it doesn’t build up much heat at all. Therefore, you can use it as long as you want without being bothered by the heat and without having to bring along a cooler pad in the bag as well.

Cons

Don’t expect that gaming using the Dell Vostro 1320 would be a terrific experience. At most, this laptop can be used for the older games that aren’t as intense with the graphics as the latest ones. This laptop should be left out of the consideration if the user is a hardcore gamer.

We also found a flaw in the speaker setup. We think its designer may have failed to think about the position of the speakers. The speakers are at the bottom rather than on top of the monitor where it should be. This just isn’t ideal when in a videoconference or when viewing movies.

Conclusion

The features of the Dell Vostro 1320 are designed for business and we think that Dell did a good job at fulfilling the requirements. While we think that it should have been given better styling, business people might not like the distraction of having an overly styled laptop. It’s a satisfactory laptop for the price that Dell is selling it for.

Dell Vostro FAQ:

Question: Would this laptop be good with World of Warcraft?
I’m considering purchasing a Dell Vostro 1320 with a 4GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce 9300m (256 mb) graphics card. How would this laptop do with WoW?

Answer: Should be more than fine considering the minimum requirements to run WoW are 512mb RAM and not a lot of processing power is needed graphics aren’t too difficult to handle. I would go for it!

Question: Where is the BIOS on a Dell Vostro 1320?
Trying to remove the coin battery.

Answer: I’m not sure exactly, but if you visit http://support.dell.com and click live chat, a tech should point out the details you need.

Question: How can I connect to the wireless network?
I have a 1320 Vostro Dell laptop, but I can’t connect to the wireless network. My windows is vista and when I want to connect to the network it just leaves a message about that the wireless network is not in the range of windows and till now I couldn’t connect.

Answer: See that your wi-fi switch is turned on. You can enable it in control panel, there may be dedicated keys for it on keyboard, then see that the you enter correct key if it is a secured one, else in network center click on manage wireless networks, and then select “connect to wireless networks when in range”. If it still doesn’t work contact dell service, it may be even a problem from wireless router. Try connecting to a different network and see.

Question: Vista Complete PC Restore won’t recognize backup files.?
I have a brand new Dell Vostro 1320 which came with windows vista basic. When I hit F8 I have the option to load a system restore point, a complete pc backup, or restore to factory settings. I am trying to make a backup of the way I like my computer and save it to either the dell recovery partition or an external hard drive. However, when I make the backup, the pc restore program doesn’t find them when I try to backup from them.

Answer: System Restore doesn’t restore backups, it restores restore points. The backup will be used to restore the entire computer, not the registry (which is what System Restore does.)

Question: Does 2.4ghz processor really worth the price over 2.1ghz?
I plan to buy dell laptop vostro 1320. these are two options please help me to choose:
option 1: get core 2 duo P8600 w/ 2.4ghz (add $125), with 3GB ram and 6 cell battery.
option 2: get core 2 duo T6500 w/ 2.1ghz (add $0), with 4GB ram(add $50) and 9 cell battery (add $50)

Those two CPUs don’t just differ in speed. They also have microarchitectural differences. The P8600 is about 15% faster than the T6500. I’d say, for a laptop, I’d take option 2. You’ll get longer battery life and the speed likely won’t make much difference.

Question: Are the Dell Vostro memory upgrades sold in ebay legitimate?
I am planning to upgrade the memory for my Dell Vostro 1400. I found some good deals in ebay. Are they genuine?? Should I buy from ebay or I should always buy from dell?

Answer: I would check the feedback of those who are selling the product. Usually people tend to sell the same things over and over so in the feedback you can see if someone else bought the same item and were happy with it. I never buy anything from ebay without going through their feedback.

Question: Do you need sound card to play logitech z2300 on Dell Vostro 1500 laptop?
I have a Dell vostro 1500 laptop. Is it ok to play my movies and music on my laptop on logitech z2300. Some body told me that it will harm my laptop. If yes then in what way?

Answer: If those speakers accept 3.5″ stereo line signals (which they very likely do) then you can use them without any trouble.

Question: Why am I getting errors when I upgraded my Dell Vostro 1500 from Windows XP to Vista?
When I upgraded my Dell Vostro 1500 to Windows Vista Ultimate from Windows XP all of my network drivers stopped working. I can’t use my wireless or ethernet connections. The drivers are there but they aren’t working. Can I download other drivers? If so, what are they and where can I find them?

Answer: This is a problem in going from XP to Vista. You need to reinstall drivers that are compatible with Vista, you can get them from Microsoft.com. I’ve been having problems with Vista and IE8, and I’m ready to go back to XP and IE7.

Dell XPS M1530 – Laptop Review

Coming from an old player in the laptop game, there are several things that a buyer can look forward to from the Dell XPS M1530.

For years, it has been the complaint of several buyers of Dell laptops that the units are quite thick as well as heavy. The Dell XPS M1530, however, is decidedly different from its older cousins. For the first time, Dell released a model in 2007 that is sleek, thin and light. When users complained that Dell laptops have very small screens, Dell then released the XPS M1530, which has a larger screen.

Specifications:

CPU: 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7500

Memory: 2GB DDR2-667 SDRAM

Hard Drive: 160GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD

Display: 15.4-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) CCFL glossy screen

Optical Drive: Slot-loading dual-layer DVD±RW drive

Video Drive: NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT with 256MB GDDR3

Webcam: Integrated 2.0 megapixel webcam

Security Hardwaer: Fingerprint Reader

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium

Wireless: Ethernet, 802.11a/g/n

Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.0

Battery: 6-cell or 9-cell

USB Ports: 3

Card Slot: 8-1 card reader; ExpressCard

The XPS M1530 features a soft-touch finish for its chassis. What’s wonderful is that it allows the buyer to choose from three different colors for its finish. Choices include Tuxedo Black, Alphine White or Crimson Red. Dell has decided to turn from the norm and not overload this machine with flashy designs and, as a result, it only has the soft-touch finish to boast of aesthetically.

Like mentioned earlier, Dell has made this notebook amazingly light: something it has not done with past models. The Dell XPS M1530 weighs an impressive 2.6 screen even if it has a sizable 15.4-inch LCD screen. This is ideal for businessmen and mobile computer users.

The Dell XPS M1530 is made up of strong and high quality materials which include steel, magnesium and aluminum. This would mean that the XPS M1530 is strong, durable and is able to resist the effects of wear and tear for a period of time.

The Dell XPS M1530 also comes with an impressive keyboard. All keys are full-sized, thus giving your fingers ample space and making usage comfortable for you. They are also soft and very responsive. The keyboard is complemented by an equally comfortable and sensitive touchpad.

One thing that can turn you off from the M1530, however, is its mediocre sound system. Placed on top of the keyboards, it is not supported by a subwoofer thus limiting the amount of bass that they can output. This will certainly ruin your audio experience.

While it certainly does have a good video card, it is far from being powerful. The NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M installed on its motherboard only has a video memory of 256 MB, certainly not enough for heavy gaming. Typical games that demand little in video memory and processing power would be enough, as it’s certainly up to the task. However, hardcore gaming is not a part of this machine’s forte. Games like Crysis and Need for Speed’s Pro Street are only rendered at very low frame rates, thereby greatly affecting the video and detail quality. So, if you’re a hardcore gamer, the M1530 is not the one for you.

All in all, aside from the sound issues and the low frame rates for the later games, the XPS M1530 is an excellent machine. In fact, people consider it as the next step after the M1330, an earlier model which did well on its own right. Despite the high price tag, the XPS M1530 is still a good buy with its powerful features, design and ergonomic features.

Dell XPS M1530 FAQ:

Question: How do I get My Dell xps m1530 to play blu ray?
Can anyone tell me how to get my dell xps m1530 computer to play bluray. Everytime I put in the disc it says it needs an update. I tell it to update. Then it says that the update is successful. When I try it a second time it says it needs an update again.

Answer: Well what you are going to do if you live in Canada is phone 1-866-398-8977. If you don’t live in Canada ask them to transfer you to the US number. This should help but if it doesn’t have blu ray player it won’t play but I’m sure it does.

Question: Where can I find Dell XPS M1530 laptop with T9300 in London?
I searched the web to find Dell XPS M1530 but with the T9300 proccessor running at 2.5 GHZ. I found it on ebay but unfortunatelly it is out of stock. I will be in London for the next year so I need names of shops or sellers who sell this specific laptop.

Answer: Pcworld are starting to sell DELL computers, but you will need to see if they sell the specific model. If not the only place to buy them is directly from dell.co.uk.

Question: How good is the battery life of the dell xps m1530?
How good is the battery life of the dell xps m1530. Please talk about the 6 cell and 9 cell battery

Answer: The 6 cell battery lasts about 2 hours. It comes included in the laptop and fits well. I recommend this because if you get the 9 cell battery, with additional charge, it sticks out the back of the laptop so it can’t sit flat. However, it may be good because it can last up to 5 hours. So, depending on where and how long you use your laptop, both have their benefits.

Question: Is Dell Canada still shipping XPS m1530 laptops with defective nvidia graphics card?
I bought a Dell XPS m1530 laptop on 10th October 2008 here in Canada. I read the problems about the graphics card in Dell just today. Is my nvidia 8600GT card likely to be a defective one?

Answer: The issue has been fixed by NVIDIA in the 9000 series. Most likely you will have the issue to the extent that it is an issue. There is a very good chance it will never impact you.

Question: Is it possible to disassemble a DELL XPS M1530 (the speakers above the keyboard part)?
I have DELL XPS M1530, but a lot of DIRT got trapped into the speakers above the keyboard area. I personally beleive that this is the worst place to have the speakers as little particles of dirt get trapped into the little holes. I need my laptop speakers to look very clean again? I also need to clean between my keys. Any ideas on how these could be done? Can I disassemble this area of this laptop?

Answer: I know I have the exact same laptop and I hate the speaker location! Because they point up sound just goes into the air above the laptop rather than in front of it towards the user.

The way to clean them is to use a compressed air cleaner. You can buy this at a store like walmart, bestbuy, staples etc. Just get a can of compressed air for electronics cleaning and blow the dust out from the key board, speaker area, and display.

Question: How can I make my Dell XPS M1530 better?
I have the XPS M1530 with an intel core duo at 1.8ghz and a nVidia 8400 gs video card… my parents who purchased it for me were TOLD it was a good gaming laptop. HOWEVER Most of the games I play either need the resolution turned down to 800×600 or all the graphics settings turned all the way down. I cannot replace it now as we do not have the money, so is there any hope of improving it’s performance?

Answer: Nothing you can really do unfortunately.

Question: Does a dell xps m1530 have a backlit keyboard?
I’m looking to buy a laptop, and my choices are, studio 1537, or xps m1530. I would prefer the xps because i like nVidia over ATi. I would be absolutely fine with the Radeon, I just like GeForce better.

Answer: The XPS M1530 does not have a backlit keyboard.

Question: Will A Dell XPS M1530 Laptop Be Able To Play The Sims 3?
I pre-ordered The Sims 3 and have spent all weekend looking for the perfect laptop to play it on. I have FINALLY narrowed it down to the Dell XPS M1530! I was wondering if that laptop was good fro playing The Sims 3? I’ve been getting mixed opinions and I just want to know straight forward will it work or not?

BTW: Which color is the best? Which one has the white keyboard?

Answer: It will run on the XPS M1530. Only the one with the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT graphics card would do it without lag. The 8400M GS will technically run it, but quite slow, nearly unplayable.

All colours have a whiteish silver keyboard. I think the Tuxedo Black looks the best, but that’s me.

World’s Thinnest Dell Adamo XPS Laptop Review

After several weeks of teasing, Dell has finally launched the Adamo XPS laptop. You surely will fall in love with this sexier Adamo laptop which is a brand-new Adamo model.

The pictures of Adamo released by Dell earlier really intrigued the readers because the laptop was very very thin. Now, its size is known that it is just 9.99mm thick. This world’s thinnest laptop has a unique design which will further captivate you. You can’t open Dell XPS like other laptops. The keyboard can be opened by sliding a finger on the heat sensing strip on the lid. Slider phones are very common, but slider laptop? This is definitely a welcome addition to the laptop models and Dell takes pride in introducing one such slider laptop for the first time.

The laptop is priced at $2000, but it doesn’t mean that you can expect ultra high specification. On windows 7 experience test, the score is 3.3 for this Dell computer. The price you are paying is for the thinnest laptop with slider design that will keep you wonderstruck all the time.

The notebook has 1.4GHZ and 1.9GHZ dual core Intel ULV processor and 4GB DDR3 RAM. Integrated graphics X4500MHD card makes the laptop quite useful. The 13.4″ WXGA screen is an LED backlit screen. You can buy this computer with 128GB or 180GB SSD capacity depending on your affordability. The 20Wh battery is user changeable and it provides 2.5 hours of backup. You can replace it with 40Wh battery that assures 4 hours of backup.

Dell Adamo FAQ:

Question: Should I get the sony vaio aw or the dell adamo?
I like both for different reasons. The dell adamo has a 13.4 inch screen and is very thin with alot of ports compared to the macbook air. The vaio aw has a 18.4 inch screen but its alot thicker and heavier. There both about the same price so I’m not sure if I should get the thinnest and one of the lightest laptops or a laptop with a huge screen but is heavier and bigger.

Answer: If you are some kind of professional user like architecture or designer or photographer go for sony (due to its 18.4 inch). If you are just a normal user and you want to hear songs, watching movies and surfing internet then go for adamo.

Question: Any sturdy laptops with METAL case besides Apple and Dell Adamo?
Are there any STURDY laptops with METAL case besides Apple Mac and Dell Adamo?

Answer: The Panasonic Toughbook is probably one of the more rugged laptops I have heard of. It was originally designed for military, law enforcement and industrial uses

Question: Can you upgrade the memory on a dell adamo laptop?
Going to get a dell adamo laptop (not adamo 13 thin laptop. The black one) but I want to upgrade the memory. Just want to know if you can and where I can do it.

Answer: Go to one of the ram companies websites, like crucial.com. memory-up.com or corsair. I use these sites all the time. Type in the info and after the scan, you will be presented with all the ram options for your laptop. Or Pc.

Question: What is better for school, a Dell Adamo Desire (2.1ghz) or a Studio XPS 16?
It seems to be a battle between portability and power, but is the Adamo even slightly upgradable?

Answer: For school students – Dell Studio XPS 16

For business people – Dell Adamo

What would a student do with a slim Adamo? Single core processor, no dedicated graphics card, useless. Adamo is only suitable for business persons who are always moving and need something to be a part of their luggage and not their luggage. Dell XPS would become an extra luggage to carry.

Question: How do I turn off my dell adamo which will not turn on or off by the power button?
My dell adamo will not turn on or off and it has no reset button or removeable battery.

Answer: Use the “shut down” command from the Windows desktop menu.

Question: Is it just me or does anyone else think that the Dell Adamo is overpriced?

Answer: ALL new technology is expensive. Even something small like a memory card.

You are too young to know this but I once bought an APPLE III business computer and had 2 external 5MB HDD… the most advanced technology and space available at that time…it cost me nearly $2,000 in 1980’s dollars – now THAT was quite a lot of money back then!!

Question: Should I get a Dell Adamo or a Macbook Pro 17 NEW!?
I would like to get a dell adamo laptop or a macbook pro 17″ please help I’m confused.

Answer: Macbook, hands down. I used to have a Dell and bought a Mac a few years ago…wish I would’ve sooner. I find it to be much more user friendly and better quality hardware.

Question: Have you seen the new Dell Adamo?
I think $2000 is kind of expensive for it. The design is ok but still not worth it. Also I want to know what Adamo means.

Answer: Adamo is latin for “to fall in love with”.

Asus K50IJ-RX05 Vs HP Mini 311 – Laptop Comparison

When you compare two laptops of diverse classes, it’s a challenge because because of the different needs that they cater to. Knowing what these differences are would be useful for the consumers. For this review, we will take a closer look at the similarly priced Asus K50IJ-RX05 and HP Mini 311. Both are priced below $500, with the Asus K50IJ-RX05 having a tag of $420 and the HP Mini 311 having a price of $400.

The purpose of this review is to make comparisons for the benefit of those that are mainly looking at the price range when selecting their desired laptop. This is similar to the weight classes of boxing, which limit certain fighters from fighting each other. However, there is still the list that compares them to each other pound-for-pound and in terms of skill and achievements. For laptops, we will compare them using their specifications and capabilities. Since the Asus K50IJ-RX05 and the HP Mini 311 belong to the same price range, let us see what each of them can give to the consumer.

Asus K50IJ-RX05

The K50IJ-RX05 is Asus’ contender in this price range. At first look, the consumer can see that this laptop has for its brain an Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200. This is an older technology compared to the Core 2 Duo as well as the Core i7 found in most laptops. Users may think that this puts the K50IJ-RX05 at a disadvantage; however, the 3-gigabyte memory bank available to the user still helps the unit perform excellently in multitasking.

Due to the Asus K50IJ-RX05’s Intel GMA 4500 media accelerator, the Asus K50IJ-RX05’s monitor can perform at a resolution ideal for HD viewing as well as for multi-tasking.

The Asus K50IJ-RX05 is also beefed up when it comes to hard disk space. You can store as much as 360 gigabytes worth of files here. This is more than enough space to store movies, music, and other files deemed important by the user. The hard drive is backed up by readers for memory sticks, multimedia cards and SD memory cards, as well as an optical drive and four hi-speed USB drives.

Users will be delighted to know that the K50IJ-RX05 is able to last slightly under four hours without being plugged to the power outlet.

Specifications:

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200

RAM: 3 GB DDR2-800 SDRAM

Screen Display: 15.6 inches

Resolution: 1366 x 768 WXGA

Dimensions: 14.6 inches x 10.1 inches x 1.4 inches

Weight: 5.7 pounds

Disk Space: 320 GB Serial ATA-150 – 5400 RPM

Optical Drive: DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM

Battery Life: 3.8 hours

Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500

Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

Pros:

Design-wise, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 can certainly turn heads. Sleek and slim (with dimensions of 14.6 inches x 10.1 inches x 1.4 inches), the laptop has a bronze-black paint job that makes it look professional and not seem like it’s entry-level. Aside from being one of the thinnest there is on the market, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 is also very light at 5.7 pounds.

The Asus K50IJ-RX05 has an ergonomic keyboard, big enough for touch-typing. One’s hands can easily spot the touchpad because it is well integrated to its chassis.

Able to last a long time without AC power, the Asus K50IJ-RX05 is still able to give out a satisfactory performance even though it has older technology powering its operations as compared to other laptops in its class.

Cons:

The weakest point in the Asus K50IJ-RX05’s design is that its specifications are fixed and cannot be upgraded. This is unfortunate, especially since the buyer will be stuck with the graphics media accelerator.

HP Mini 311

Unlike the Asus K50IJ-RX05, the HP Mini 311 is a netbook. It has for its processor an entirely different technology: The Intel Atom N270. Running at a clocked speed of 1.6 GHz, the Atom N270 is supported by 1 gigabyte of RAM. For storage, users have 160 gigabytes with which to put their files in. Needless to say, the HP Mini 311 does not have an optical drive.

The HP Mini 311 stands out among other netbooks due to its graphics card that makes for a better display.

The HP Mini 311 has impressive dimensions for an 11-incher. It measures 11.46 inches x 8 inches x 1.2 inches, and is 0.2 inches thinner than the Asus K50IJ-RX05. It is also very light at 3.22 pounds. Its chassis is loaded with several features including three USB ports, a 5-in-1 digital media reader, RJ-45 network connectivity port, VGA and an HDMI port.

The Mini 311 features a black-on-silver finish. The keyword and the touchpad are both silver. The keyboard is ergonomic; however, the touchpad is not as impressive as the keyboard is.

The HP Mini 311 has a battery life of 5.5 hours.

Specifications:

CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270

RAM: 1 GB DDR2 1066MHz

Screen Display: 11.6 inches

Resolution: 1366 x 768 WXGA

Dimensions: 11.46 inches x 8 inches x 1.2 inches

Weight: 3.22 pounds

Disk Space: 160 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive

Optical Drive: None

Battery Life: five-and-a-half hours

Graphics: Nvidia Ion LE GPU

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 7

Pros:

The HP Mini 311 still offers a satisfactory performance for the user. With a 1.6 GHz processor backed by a gigabyte of random access memory, the 311’s capabilities are rounded out by the graphics support provided by the Nvidia Ion LE GPU. This makes it capable of seamless graphics editing which other netbooks cannot do. The graphics card also allows for excellent HD viewing, as well as some medium-core games.

The specifications also allows for multi-tasking, where the user has several programs running simultaneously.

Cons:

The HP Mini 311’s biggest disadvantage is its delay in booting up. Aside from that, some users will have difficulty with maneuvering the touchpad.

Conclusion:

In the end, what matters is what you need these laptops for.

If you are looking for portability and better support for graphics processing, the HP Mini 311 would be ideal for your needs. However, if you prefer hard drive muscle and media support while traveling, you are better off buying the Asus K50IJ-RX05.

Laptops comparison of Asus K50IJ-RX05 and HP Mini 311 is all about their specification and valued features. You must check Laptop Comparison for other laptops and netbooks.

Asus vs HP :FAQ

Question: Which brand is better asus vs hp?
which brand is better, asus from taiwan or hp from usa? I heard that hp uses asus parts?

Answer: It depends on what parts in the HP your are interested in…ASUS makes good mother boards. HP does use some asus parts also some Foxconn, VIA, and others. HP assembles computers from USA not necessarily makes the parts here but then again so does Asus! If your considering a complete computer, just look at the spec. and get the one with the most of the newest tech.

Question: Asus vs Hp Screen for photoshop
So I am going to buy a new laptop soon. I have narrowed down my choices to an Asus M50VM-A1 or an HP dv5t. I wanted to know which of the 2 have the best screen since I do alot in photoshop and watch alot of movie.

Answer: Both have great screens – I own an ASUS W3J and an HP dv6500t, and I have no issues whatsoever with graphics work or videos. Either one should be fine. Unless you’re doing work that requires serious color accuracy, the difference in the screens isn’t going to matter – and if you are, you wouldn’t be using a laptop screen for that kind of work anyway (you’d want an external monitor with color calibration and extreme contrast).

Question: Asus vs HP, which laptop is better?
HP $749.99
Asus $649.99
Is the extra money worth it for the HP over the Asus? Will I notice much of a different between he two since they are basically the same specs only the HP looks newer.

Answer: Just had a quick 10 sec look and the ASUS seems to be a superior machine slightly, although the HP is more popular…. I would go for the ASUS.

Question: HP vs ASUS (home computer)?
Which is better for gaming ASUS or HP and why?

Answer: It completely depends on what the specifications for each PC is. The brand has no bearing on how well it performs.

Question: Hp 1001tu vs Asus Eee PC 1000H, which is a better mini note?
I’m interested in buying one, but I am unsure which is a better machine.

Answer: I would go for Asus, HP might look better or more shiny than the Asus, but i would be more concerned about the performance and also Asus is more reliable than HP.

Question: HP 2133 vs Asus eee pc 901, what’s the better?
They have the same size:8.9-inch. Do you like hp 2133 or asus eee pc 901?

Answer: Eee 901 for sure. The HP is pretty and well-made, but it is saddled with a slow-poke VIA processor and the strangely-positioned mouse buttons. Performance will especially suffer if you get a Vista version of the 2133. The 2133 also tends to run hot. The Eee 901 uses the new Intel Atom processor and is available with XP.

Question: HP (Hewlett-Packard) Mini 311- 1025NR Netbook vs Asus Eee PC 1005HA- Which is better?
Which do you think is better? The Asus is small, I’m not sure exactly how big 11 inches would be with the HP, but the HP has better graphics apparently, and I would like to at least play facebook games on it and maybe some browser games. Nothing Major. Would it be able to handle this? Opinions on both would be awesome.

Answer: Asus Eee PC 1005HA is better. This 10.1-Inch Black Netbook sports impressive 10.5 Hours of Battery Life.

There’s 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 Processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB SATA Hard Drive, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Windows 7 Starter Operating System.

Question: Which is the best netbook?
HP Mini 110 vs. Asus EEE 1005 vs. Acer AOD250 Android. I need Windows 7, but I love the idea of downloading apps on Android. I need a webcam, good battery life, and a nice computer. Which is the better computer in general. I wanna be able to surf the web download games etc.

Answer: You will not be able to do gaming on a Net Book, slow processor, limited ram and poor graphics/video chip set and more.

The Windows 7 Starter is not a full featured operating system (limited), the processor is slow, limited ram memory (1 GB), no CD/DVD drive, no internal modem.

Net Book: slow processor speed, poor video graphics, not for any gaming, small screen (eye strain), small down sized key board, limited ram memory, most of all no CD/DVD drive.
Good for surfing Internet and basic work, light and portable.

Lap top: full featured, larger screen and key board, faster processor, more ram memory, better video/graphics, better sound audio, larger hard drive, works wireless or wired and more.

Lenovo IdeaPad S12 – Netbook Review

Lenovo is proud to present its Lenovo IdeaPad S12, which was lauded as one of the Top 5 Netbooks for 2009. People thought that Asus had an edge with its Eee series, but the Lenovo S12 edged it out with its low price, larger screen size and a more convenient keyboard.

The Lenovo S12 is powered by Intel’s Atom N270 processor at 1.6 GHz and it also is a netbook that pioneers the inclusion of VIA’s Nano mobile processor as an Intel alternative. The Atom is really getting some stiff competition for the Via Nano processor, which has been getting raves lately. Plus, NVIDIA’s Ion technology is expected to be featured in the S12.

A closer look into the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 would give us an idea on why it is one of the best.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 is lighter than most netbooks even if its dimensions are a few inches bigger than the average netbook. The IdeaPad S12’s plastic chassis looks give this netbook a business-like impression that is consistent with most Lenovo laptops.

Many would be impressed with the IdeaPad S12’s 12-inch LCD display, which can be viewed from various angles. You would think that you are using a standard-sized laptop when watching movies from the S12.

Comfort is Lenovo’s middle name as typing on the IdeaPad S12 is convenient as this model has a full-sized keyboard. This feature is not standard in many netbooks; plus, its touchpad is a very handy feature.

The IdeaPad S12 has one nifty feature that other netbooks don’t have: the face recognition application. This neat feature allows one to log in to the netbook by simply putting your face in front of the webcam.

However, multitasking is a stretch in the Lenovo S12. Its Intel Atom N270 processor is capable of handling basic fundamental office applications. One can also do the usual web browsing work and media playback. That’s about it.

Specifications:

CPU:

  • VIA Nano ULV 2250 ( 1.30GHz 800MHz 1MB )
  • Intel ATOM Processor N270 Single Core ( 1.60GHz 533MHz 512KB )

RAM: 1 GB

Screen Size: 12.1 ” WXGA TFT 1280×800

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition

Battery Life: Up to 6 hours

Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950

Pros:

The S12 boasts of a battery time of a maximum of 6 hours. The Lenovo’s chassis is sturdy and is able to handle the average mobile computing jobs. Plus, its large screen and large keys make you feel that the IdeaPad S12 is the normal-sized laptop. The size of the LCD screen makes this netbook a cut above the rest.

Cons:

Even if the Lenovo S12 is considered a Top 5 netbook for 2009, it also comes with its disadvantages. The single-core Atom processor limits the user in his or her multitasking jobs. Plus, users might find the fan noisy. The finish also attracts fingerprints easily.

Conclusion:

The Lenovo S12 still owns up to its title as one of the top netbooks in 2009. Many users would be fascinated by the larger-than-average netbook screen and the full-sized keyboard. Plus, the price at $400 to $450 isn’t unreasonable for the features that it offers.

Lenovo Netbook FAQ:

Question: What is the warranty on the screen for a Lenovo S10 netbook?
I’ve heard that some netbook manufacturers do not warranty the screens on their netbooks for the 1 year period that is given to the other parts of their netbooks. Does anyone know what the Lenovo warranty is for the screen on their S10 netbooks? What about the screen warranties for other netbook manufacturers?

Answer: S10 has a one year warranty on all parts.

Question: How can I change the operating system on my Lenovo S10 Netbook?
My family is having a garage sale tomorrow and I thought I would save up the money. Can I buy any new hard drive and put it in my Lenovo S10 Netbook and have someone install a new operating system? How can I do this?

Answer: Yes it is possible. Just run into a best buy, purchase a new hard drive that supports your laptop brand, then ask a person in there to install it in your computer. Purchase an instillation CD and insert the CD into your computer and click “install now”. However all these things add up. Purchasing a new computer would save more money than keeping the physical computer but with a new operating system. Plus, why do you want to change OS, Vista is problematic, wait till Windows 7 is released. You can get computers under $500. Just shop around and you will get a brand new computer without the stress of upgrading to a new OS.

Question: Which docking station works best with the Lenovo S10 Netbook? Will any docking station work with it?

The S10 does not have a dock connector. There is no dock for the S10. A USB port replicator will work, but those can have problems if you connect several high speed devices or try to use high bandwidth video, as the data rate over the single USB link is limited.

Question: How can I run Mac OS X on my Lenovo S10 Netbook?
I have a Lenovo S10 Netbook running Windows XP. I would like to know how to boot Mac OS X on it along with the choice of XP.

Answer: You legally cannot run Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple product. Just get yourself a MacBook. The MacBook does both WinBloze and OSX, no other computer can make that statement. You have the best of the best. Apple Stores are popping up all over and you can make an appointment for a time and date, bring your computer there. They will troubleshoot it and fix it if it’s a software problem it’s FREE. What other computer company has stores and can make that statement? Get the 2.4 GHz with 4Gigs Ram and you got a speed machine.

Question: Need help with my lenovo netbook browser size?
I have a lenovo netbook. The problem I have is my firefox browser shows the webpage to fit the screen but when I go on facebook the webpage is way too big for the screen.

Answer: First of all your problem is not about the size of your Laptop. It is about your display settings.
Probably your display settings are lower then 1024×768 Pixels. If you are using a Windows system right click somewhere empty at your screen, go to properties and then chose settings tab and change resolution to at least 1024×768. Then you can see all facebook on your screen. The other way is using Firefox Zoom abilities. Try to scroll up and down from mouse while you are pressing ctrl button at the same time. You can see you changing the zooming size of firefox browser screen. For turning back to natural settings you can use ctrl+0 configuration.

Question: I want to buy sims for pc and play it on Netbook Lenovo S10e, will it work? ram 1gb, graphics 950?
I am going to buy the external usb drive, however I want to purchase the sims for pc, but I am quite afraid that it will not work. Any thoughts?

Answer: The sims 3 won’t work on such a small graphics card. Although you could probably play the sims 1, but not sims 2, although sims 1 is probably going to lag a lot as well. Your laptop isn’t very capable of running any of the newer games.

Question: Whats a good free program to use to take pictures on my Lenovo Netbook?
The only thing I use is facebook, and that’s not really working out, so I want something similar to the iphoto thingy that’s on the macbook but I know that it won’t be as good. And it has to be free!

Answer: Well, if the Lenovo comes with a web-cam, it has to come with the software that lets you use the web-cam. In case you just re-installed Windows, you should use the driver installation disc that came with the it when you first purchased it. Or go to the manufacturer’s website, browse your net-book model and download the driver/software for your web-cam. However if you are looking for sites to share or store pictures online some popular free sites are photobucket, picasa web albums and flickr.

Question: Lenovo Netbook VS. MSI Wind VS. HP mini?
I’m looking to purchase a netbook. I like all there of the above netbooks, but my favorite is the MSI wind. The only problem is, the operating system is windows XP and I’d really like a netbook with Windows 7. The lenovo seems very good to me, but reviews has said its ugly (though I don’t really see that from the pictures). The hp mini seems good as well, but people say it overheats easily. Any thoughts on the above netbooks?

Answer: I think you would be perfectly happy with the MSI Wind running Windows XP. A netbook does not have enough RAM or enough processing power to run Windows 7 efficiently, so you would be better off getting a netbook with Windows XP anyway. Additional things for you to consider are how important battery life is to you, how big of a screen do you want, and what type of operating system you plan to use.

Asus Laptop FAQ:

Question: What type of Asus laptop do you prefer for a college student?
I am going to college this fall and I am thinking about getting an Asus laptop. I personally would like the laptop to be able to run most of games plus long battery life. Any price around 1,200$ would be acceptable to me. Which Asus laptop model do you prefer? And how is the quality of an Asus laptop in general?

Answer: Well an Asus laptop is not designed for high-end gaming though it can handle some. Personally, I think Asus laptop computers are great and I’ve had them for years. I use to use a Dell laptop computer, but I found several problems with it. When I used the Dell laptop computer the power cord would break very often. That’s when I decided to switch over to Asus. Asus is a company that provides you with power cords that do not break constantly. I found that I was paying hundreds of dollars each year in replacement power cords when I was working with dell. The other thing I like about working with Asus is that you can call their technical support line whenvever. Dell had hours that really weren’t that flexibile and I would have to wait forever on the phone.

Question: How to upgrade my asus laptop to windows 7?
Hi I have a windows 32-bit vista on my asus laptop K401J series and it is eligible for the free upgrade to windows 7 because I bought it just last October. How can I upgrade to windows 7? Will I receive a new product key?

Answer: You need to contact Asus or go to their website and register for your free upgrade.

Question: Which one to chose between a mac and an Asus laptop?
I would like to buy a laptop, but with all the choices we have in the market i’m lost. I’m actually hesitating between a mac-book or Asus.

Answer: I’m a Mac person, but use PCs every day. Macs are more expensive, but they really do have style. The operating system is more powerful than Windows, but is really easy to use. I have never met a person who doesn’t like using a Mac after they have got to know them properly. The things you have to consider are price, portability and what you want from them. PC’s are cheaper, and are often better gaming computers. However, Macs are more sexy and are exceptionally good for doing the simple things as well as cool stuff like making photos, movies etc. Also, when you buy a mac all the basic software (bar Microsoft office, which you’d have to buy anyway) comes free with the computer. Macs tend to be lighter and tougher cased as well – look at the MacBook Air (tiny!!) and the MacBooks made from Aluminum. Finally, at the end of the day, if you don’t like the Mac operating system, you can load Windows on (through a feature called ‘Bootcamp’), and run any Windows applications on your Mac like it was a PC. PC’s are cheaper, and that’s often the thing that sells them better, but at the end of the day you need to get the one that suits you best. I’d recommend going to a store and having a feel to see what you like best.

Question: How do I set my asus linux based laptop keyboard layout to dvorak?
I have a asus laptop that is running the original linux and I want to switch to dvorak and I can move the keyfaces around but it still thinks they are in qwerty possions.

Answer: You should be able to find some place in the menu that will let you change things like the keyboard, language, etc.

Question: How do I turn on bluetooth in Asus laptop F5GL?
I have an Asus F5Gl laptop and when I install the bluetooth driver it says no blutooth hardwear detected.

Answer: It means that you are not possessing a bluetooth device. Purchase it from a nearby store and then install it. You will have to also download the driver.

Question: How can I stop my ASUS laptop from powering off?
I own an ASUS A6J7 laptop. The power shuts off if it is not plugged in for about 5 min. My mother owns an ASUS as well and has the same problem. The laptops are both quite old.

Answer: Your batteries are probably about dead. You could order new batteries, or just buy new laptops since they are getting real inexpensive.

Question: Asus laptop not finding webcam, used to work?
My Asus laptop is no longer finding the built in webcam it came with. Used to work great but now it doesn’t. Not sure when it started, don’t use it too much. Any ideas what I can do?

Answer: First simply try uninstalling the drivers and let Windows find the hardware again. Then reinstall the original webcam drivers. Sometimes drivers get updated automatically and cause problems.

Question: Can I use a windows xp(gateway) operating system on my asus g50-x1 laptop, and how do I save my drivers?
Can I use the system recovery disk from my gateway pc, on my asus laptop? And my friends say I should save all the drivers from my new asus laptop right now, before I convert it to XP. How do I do this? And what are “all the drivers”?

Answer: No, the restore disk is for a specific model with all the device drivers loaded.

Dell Studio Laptops FAQ:

Question: Does Walmart carry the Dell studio laptops?
I hear that Walmart carries Dell laptops. I saw it on the Walmart commercial. Do they carry the Dell studio laptops? I really want the plum purple Dell studio laptop.

Answer: You’ll get a much better deal and be able to get the components and color you want by going straight through Dell. They usually release new e-value codes on the weekends that give you hundreds of dollars off. I ordered my Studio 17 on the tax-free weekend and saved $499 plus no tax or shipping (another $125).

Question: Does the Dell Studio 17 laptop come with a built-in microphone? If not, which Dell Laptops Models do?
I’m buying a DELL computer but I want one that has a built-in microphone so I don’t have to use a headset to make calls from my computer via Skype or Yahoo Messenger. I like the Dell Studio 17 but it doesn’t specify if it does or does not come with a built-in microphone. If it doesn’t, which Dell Laptop models do come with a built-in microphone.

Answer: Any current laptop in the market should come with one.

Question: What do you think of the new dell studio laptops?
I’m planning on getting one and wondering what people think of them so far.

Question: Are Dell Studio laptops a good deal?
I’m planning to get the Studio 1555 with some customizations, and it seems as though the specifications are very nice for a laptop that price (especially the ATI Radeon GPU). However I’m afraid that the laptop will easily overheat under full operating conditions, and no, I’m not planning on getting the extended warranty or any extra notebook cooling pad.

Answer: Yeah Dell Studio laptops are a good deal. Dell is well known brand in laptop market so i think you should go for it. Just don’t play games over 5 hours, too much for the laptop.

Question: What are the differences between DELL inspiron and DELL studio laptops?

Answer: If you have taken a closer look, you must have noticed that the Studio laptops have better LCD display. The LCD is HD in the case of studios and the graphics card is better even if you go for Intel integrated graphics card. Rest is more or less the same, but studios look better externally.

If you want to connect an HDTV go for the one that has HDMI output, you will love it.

Question: Do Dell Studio XPS Laptops have internal hard drives?
Does the Dell Studio XPS laptop have an internal hard drive? Probably a stupid question but I read something about it not having hard drive and I wasn’t sure what it meant. Not exactly computer savvy.

Answer: Every laptop has a internal hard disk drive, that is where the operating system is usually stored. Now there are some laptops that use solid state drives instead, but they do the exact same job.

Question: I bought a Dell Laptop Studio 1536. I have an Epson Workforce 600. I cannot get anything to print from the computer. I can scan and copy ok. Any suggestions?

Answer: Epson has a very specific way in which print drivers are loaded and you have to follow the directions exactly. So make sure you have downloaded the correct drivers, then do it exactly how they say.

Question: I have a dell studio laptop and the audio on recording videos is very messed up?
I have a dell Studio laptop, and my audio is messing up. It was working fine one minute but the next a loud buzzing was going on. You can still record and what not but the fuzzy noise is so prominent there is no point.

Answer: Go to settings/control panel/system/device manager and delete the sound device and shut down. Reboot and you should get the message “new device found” see if windows can install it from the windows files. If it is not there you will have to download the driver and install it manually. If that doesn’t work I would return it, that’s what warranty is for!
